pioneer in aboriginal education celebrates 30 years at lakehead u
(thunder bay - june 30, 2005) on saturday, july 2, a special celebration will take place at the fort william first nation pow-wow to honour professor dolores wawia for her 30 years of pioneering work on aboriginal education at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜

professor wawia accepted the position of teacher counsellor with the native teacher education program at lakehead u on july 1, 1975. this program was the first of its kind in ontario. since that time, she has designed and implemented many courses for lakehead u's faculty of education, and became the first native woman assistant professor with tenure at lakehead u as well as the first elder in residence of an ontario university.
professor wawia's native name is muk kee queh, which means frog lady in ojibway. she is a story teller, and over the years she has visited many schools around the community, sharing her stories with countless 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛
. she also hosts a story time session ever third tuesday of the month at the waverley resource library. this session is designed to bring in all cultures to share stories.
professor wawia will be honoured at the fort william first nation pow-wow on mount mckay this canada day weekend. during the morning, there will be a sweatlodge ceremony in the anishnawbe mushkiki lodge. there will be presentations, an honour song and dance, and a feast later in the day. the invocation for the afternoon ceremonies begins at 3 p.m.
