阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 's biotechnology symposium focuses on educational and economic opportunities

(september 26, 2007 --thunder bay, on) biotechnology is a transformative technology that impacts all aspects of our daily lives, including the cars we drive, the food we eat, the homes we build, and the health we keep. 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 's third annual biotechnology symposium, biotech and the environment: water, soil, plants, and bioenergy, takes place in the university's faculty lounge from september 27-28, and boasts a stellar speaking panel.

"most people know that biotechnology is very important in our lives," says dr heidi schraft, associate professor of biology at lakehead. "but, they just don't know exactly what the field of research entails. the information that our expert speakers will present at this conference will teach guests about some very important elements in the field." schraft stresses that biotechnology is more than just dna and genetic engineering. it is a field of study that uses living organisms, or cellular and bio-molecular processes, to make new products, solve problems, or provide new methods of production.

economically speaking, biotechnology poses a multitude of opportunities for thunder bay and surrounding area. because the field of biotechnology affects so many aspects of our lives, it also offers many opportunities regarding the development of goods and services, and the potential for increased productivity, employment, and revenue in our city.

the conference's speaking panel comprises experts from 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 , the university of guelph, environment canada, the university of waterloo, performance plants inc., and the national research council of canada.
