lakehead orillia’s 2016 voice of convocation a true student leader
阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 student rebecca scott will represent the 2016 graduating class from lakehead orillia this saturday as the “voice of convocation.”

five years ago, rebecca scott, who wanted to become a teacher, thought she had already chosen her university until a recruiter from lakehead (danielle poeta) visited her high school in hanover, ontario. poeta’s presentation inspired her to take a road trip with some friends to visit the orillia campus.
“that visit completely changed my mind,” said scott. “lakehead had the right feeling – it was just home – and i felt like there would be lots of opportunities at such a new university campus.”
scott was right about the opportunities. she is about to graduate from 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 with her honours bachelor of arts & science and bachelor of education degrees at the university’s upcoming convocation, where she will be the student “voice of convocation,” delivering a graduation message to her fellow 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 .
the opportunities at lakehead began in scott’s first year when she worked part-time at the front desk of the campus helping with reception duties. she went on to become a resident assistant (ra) in her second year, a role she continued for three years. as an ra, scott would live in residence and be responsible for the 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 living on her assigned floor, helping to guide them as they embarked on their life at university.
“as a ra, i was responsible for helping and guiding new 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 , especially through the difficult challenges that come from being away from home and in a totally new and different environment,” explained scott. “it was really all about helping them figure out who they are as a person and how they can be successful as a student.”
the experience allowed scott to build many relationships and friendships over the years, while learning “leaps and bounds” about leadership and mentoring.
she was encouraged by many of her peers to apply for the prestigious position as the 2016 voice of convocation. she was successful, and now that she will be delivering a message to the many 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 she has met over the years, scott says she is truly honoured.
“this is another awesome opportunity for me, and i hope to share what i’ve learned from my fellow 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 – to continue to pursue what you are passionate about and to never give up – the sky’s the limit; it’s your life, live it!”
following graduation, scott will be back at residence at the orillia campus, where she has a summer job as a conference services assistant. in the fall she hopes to begin her career in teaching and eventually work in the area of special education.
