call for proposals – international policy ideas challenge 2024

how to apply: 

global affairs canada (gac), in collaboration with the social sciences and humanities research council (sshrc), is pleased to announce the seventh edition of the international policy ideas challenge. the program offers applicants a chance to test their skills at translating academic expertise into policy language and insights. 

the international policy ideas challenge invites applications from current graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and post-doctoral fellows at a recognized canadian post-secondary educational institution. researchers affiliated with a canadian non-profit organization who are within 6 years of graduation from a graduate program will also be considered.  

 

applications should propose a topic that affects canadian interests in international policy (foreign policy, economic policy, international assistance policy), which applicants believe needs additional study. the policy proposal must be relevant to at least one of the four themes: 

1.  canada’s international policy in a polycrisis environment 

2.  emerging systemic challenges for canada 

3.  leveraging the international toolkit (diplomatic, trade and international assistance relationships and tools) 

4. strategic objectives and initiatives under canada’s indo-pacific engagement strategy 

 

winners will receive $4,000 and present their briefs at the virtual ideas symposium in late 2024.

how to apply: 

nserc invites applications for initiatives that promote natural sciences and engineering (nse) to canada’s young people, particularly to underrepresented groups in nse careers. in the context of promoscience, underrepresented groups include, but are not limited to, girls; indigenous youth (first nations, inuit, and métis); youth with disabilities, members of visible minorities/racialized groups; and members of 2slgbtqia+ communities. recognizing the need to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in the nse, nserc may support additional meritorious applications with targeted programming for underrepresented groups if sufficient funds become available. promoscience supports activities and content designed for youth in elementary school and high school (including those in the equivalent first year of college in quebec) and their educators, as well as activities that will encourage indigenous undergraduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 to pursue graduate studies in the nse.

the british academy is now accepting applications for its visiting fellowship program 2025.  applications are invited from researchers outside of the uk in the social sciences and humanities who wish to develop a collaborative project with uk researcher, during a 3-6 month stay at a university or research institute.  start dates should be between 24 march-august 2025. maximum funding is £40,000 british pounds.

the overall aim of this funding opportunity is to support robust research to analyze, monitor, contextualize and/or evaluate how structural or “system-level” drivers (e.g. legislation and policies) can create, maintain or exacerbate health (in)equity across populations, regions, contexts and settings.

the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

  • to increase the evidence base on the structural determinants of health inequities in canada.
  • to support a range of identifiable and/or novel interdisciplinary research designs, theories, methods, and approaches to understand the structural determinants of health and their impacts on health (in)equities.
  • to foster connections and collaboration between researchers and stakeholders across a broad range of disciplines, including (but not limited to) population and public health researchers, public health professionals, people with lived experience, communities, knowledge keepers, knowledge-users, and decision-makers to translate knowledge into policy and practice. this form of knowledge synthesis will be supported through a convening event that all funded applicants will attend during the funding period.

2024-2025 caribou conservation stewardship program

how to apply: 
to conserve the province’s rich biodiversity and promote environmental stewardship, the ministry of the environment, conservation and parks (“ministry”) has committed to funding stewardship projects that contribute to the maintenance or recovery of self-sustaining local boreal caribou populations. 
 
as part of this commitment, ontario is launching the next intake of the caribou conservation stewardship program (ccsp) to support projects that contribute to the stewardship and recovery of ontario’s caribou populations.
 
the objective of the ccsp is to advance the maintenance, recovery, or adaptive management of self-sustaining local populations of boreal caribou, through supporting projects such as on-the-ground habitat restoration and protection and other conservation activities such as monitoring, science and research.
